Seasonal Fishing

Our fishing charters are available year-round. Your fishing adventure will include bay, flats, and sight fishing. You can expect to catch certain species of fish during different seasons. We have included a seasonal fishing guide below.

Our summer months begin in late May and end in September. This is the best time for sight fishing. The early summer is the best time for Tarpon, as they gather just off the beaches. If you like flats fishing, Trout and Redfish will be in abundance during the early mornings and late evenings. This is also a great time to catch Barracuda, Bonita, Bull Red Fish, Flounder, Grouper, Ladyfish, Mangrove, Mangrove Snapper, Permit, Pompano, Sheepshead, Snook, Spanish Mackerel.

The Fall fishing season runs from October thru December. This is a great time for fishing in the flats where Permit, Pompano, Red Fish, Snook, and Trout are plentiful. There will also be a migration of Albacore, Black Drum, Blue Fish, Cobia, Flounder, Jack Crevalle, King Fish, Mackerel, and Tripletail as the waters begin to cool.

From December to February, you can still experience great fishing. You will be able to catch Grouper by either bay or sight fishing. Another fish that can be caught sight fishing is the Tripletail, as they like to gather in the crab traps. If you prefer the flats, there will be plenty of Blue Fish, Red Fish, and Trout. Black Drum, Sheepshead, and Snook are also abundant during the winter months.

The spring season, which is between late February and early May, is a great time to flat and sight fish for Red Fish, Snook, and Trout. It is possible to catch all three species within the same day, which is considered the “Sarasota Slam” by the locals. You can expect great results from sight fishing during these months. There will also be a massive number of Black Drum, Blue Fish, Cobia, Flounder, Kingfish, Ladyfish, Mangrove Snapper, Pompano, Sea Bass, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, and Tripletail. Early May is the time for the migration of Tarpon to the area.
